Greater NY Satisfaction
Since Greater NY was launched in 2009, we have asked all partners:
Was your partner a good match?
Are you satisfied with your experience?
Would you recommend Greater NY?
We ask these questions in a survey at the one-year mark and at the conclusion of the partnership. Here’s our aggregated data:
Good matches can be anchored in a great personality fit, a good working relationship, a welcome skeptical voice. Every partnership defines it differently. But at the core, a good Greater NY match is a candid thought partner, someone with whom leaders with tough jobs can be open and vulnerable - while always feeling respected and knowing what they say will be held in confidence.
A good match and a good partnership often lead to an enduring relationship. 70% of Greater NY partnerships stay in touch after the two year official Greater NY partnership term and partners say the satisfaction of the Greater NY relationship has led them to use it as a template for other relationships.
How Do We Make Good Matches?
We start with a basic alignment of the management issues a nonprofit leader is interested in exploring with the experience and skills of a corporate partner. We look for shared values – whether they have been expressed to us as professional or personal values. We look for the common experiences that can anchor a relationship – or points of divergence where partners have expressed an interest in being challenged.
Greater NY suggests matches and gives potential partners the opportunity to test them out in a no commitment meeting. Everyone who begins a Greater NY partnership has said “yes” to the match.
What happens when partnerships do not have a good match? Most still valued the Greater NY experience – the opportunities to meet other partners and attend Greater NY events. The number one reason for a match not leading to a satisfying experience is failure to meet regularly.
